The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation in now hiring a 
*Butterfly Conservation Specialist* to join our growing conservation 
team and help us continue to successfully implement our mission. The 
Butterfly Conservation Specialist will work under the direction of the 
Executive Director to:

    * Manage our effort to conserve monarch butterflies and their habitat.
    * Assist in management of the IUCN Butterfly Specialist Group.
    * Plan surveys for at-risk butterflies.
    * Assist in the development of management plans for at-risk butterflies
    * Perform limited applied research on select butterfly species.
    * Develop status reviews and ESA listing petitions for critically
      imperiled butterfly species.
    * Develop and run a butterfly management short course that provides
      land managers with guidance on how to best manage habitat for
      butterflies.
    * Update and maintain the Xerces Red List of butterflies and moths.

This position will ideally be located in Portland, Oregon, but we will 
consider locations in California.  This is a full time position with a 
salary range of $34,000 - $40,000 depending on experience, and a
