Si usted esta haciendo algun trabajo sobre la conservacion de mariposas, o conoce otros que estan trabajando asi, por favor leer este mensaje y contribuir su informacion. Gracias, Keith -------- Original Message -------- Subject: IUCN/SSC Butterfly Specialist Group Survey Date: Wed, 2 Mar 2011 12:22:00 -0800 From: Matthew Shepherd Reply-To: To: ?BFCI list? , , leps-l , Having trouble viewing this email? Click here *IUCN/SSC BUTTERFLY SPECIALIST GROUP SURVEY * ** Greetings partners in butterfly conservation, In fall of 2010, The International Union for Conservation of Nature (*IUCN*) Species Survival Commission (*SSC*) re-formed its*Butterfly Specialist Group* and named Scott Hoffman Black, executive director of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, as the group's chair. In this capacity, Scott will work to bring together scientists and conservationists to facilitate butterfly conservation action and influence policy worldwide. In anticipation of this task, we have prepared a short on-line survey with the aim of identifying current butterfly conservation projects, priorities, and needs, and the individuals and organizations engaged in these efforts. The results of this survey will be used to create an action plan to prioritize individual species status assessments, surveys, and direct conservation action. We'd appreciate your help in better understanding what's being done and who is engaged in butterfly conservation across the world. *Please complete this brief survey; it should take less than 10 minutes to complete*. Any information you can give will be of great benefit to the work of the Butterfly Specialist Group. We hope to get this survey out as broadly as possible. To help us do this, once you have filled out the survey, *please forward this information and the link to the survey: http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e39t3abkgiro65gp/start * to others whose work or experience may be applicable to this specialist group. We are especially interested in gathering information about butterfly conservation efforts in areas outside North America and Western Europe, as the initial aim of this group is to prioritize work in countries and regions generally underserved by butterfly conservation organizations. The survey is in English. If this is not your first language, we hope that you will still be able to read and complete the survey and that language will not be a barrier to your participation. Unfortunately, the specialist group doesn't currently have the capacity to present and analyze the survey in other languages. If you have any questions, please email them to butterflysg at xerces.org , or call (503) 232 6639. Thank you for your help in making the Butterfly Specialist Group a success. Sincerely, Scott Hoffman Black Executive Director - The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation Chair - IUCN SSC Butterfly Specialist Group ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *ABOUT THE XERCES SOCIETY* The Xerces Society is a nonprofit organization that protects wildlife through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitat. The deadline for proposals to these schemes is 17th August 2010, and the Fellowships are for 12-24 months in duration. http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=UserSite.FP7CallsPage There are three different individual fellowships available. A very brief summary of each scheme is listed below, along with a link to each calls specific webpage. Further details can be found by downloading the Work Plan (same for all Marie Curie grants) and Guide for Applicants (specific to each Marie Curie scheme), and page 8 of the respective Guide for Applicants provides an overview of each scheme. If anyone is interested in applying to these schemes, please contact me. FP7-PEOPLE-2010-IEF - Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development (IEF) This scheme is primarily designed to give experienced researchers (at least 4 years full-time equivalent research experience counted from the time of obtaining an undergraduate degree, and already holding a PhD) the opportunity to progress in their career by allowing them to from an institution in one 'Member State' or 'Associate Country' to a different 'Member State' or 'Associate Country'. FP7-PEOPLE-2010-IIF - Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) This scheme is designed to attract top-class researchers from 'Third Countries' (i.e. not a 'Member State' or 'Associated Country'). A list of 'Third Countries' can be found starting on page 12 of the IIF Guide for Applicants, which can be downloaded by following the link above. FP7-PEOPLE-2010-IOF - Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowships for Career Development (IOF) This scheme is to allow researchers from 'Member States' and 'Associated Countries' to attend a partner institution in a 'Third Country' for 12-14 months to acquire new skills and forge collaborations, and then bring them back to their host institution in a 'Member State' or 'Associated Country' for a mandatory 12 months, to allow for knowledge transfer. These schemes are an excellent way to recruit talented post-docs from around the world, or to send a current post-doc out to learn a useful new skill(s), which they can then bring back to the group. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
