Queridos amigos,

Es una gran alegría anunciar el IV ELEN a realizarse en Montevideo, Uruguay, del 22 al 26 de abril de 2012.

Ya han pasado casi dos años desde nuestra última reunión en Chetumal, México, en el Encuentro de Lepidoptera Neotropicales III. Llegó entonces el momento de reunirnos nuevamente para compartir conocimientos, experiencias y disfrutar del tema que nos une y apasiona: las mariposas y polillas del Neotrópico.

Este evento, que cuenta con el auspicio de la Facultad de Ciencias (Universidad de la República) y el Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, se realizará en el Centro de Convenciones de la Torre de los Profesionales (http://www.torre.com.uy <http://www.torre.com.uy/> ), en el centro de la ciudad de Montevideo.

Por primera vez, el ELEN se realiza en una zona de clima templado, en el bioma Pampa, tan familiar para algunos de nosotros pero tan inusual para otros. Será una oportunidad inmejorable para aquellos que desean visitarlo y aun no lo conocen, así como también para los que desean volver. También va a ser una buena oportunidad para consolidar la participación de todos los vinculados a este tema en la región.

Montevideo, es la capital del país y concentra casi la mitad de la población total, con una gran actividad cultural, importantes centros comerciales y la famosa rambla costanera de más de 20 km de largo, destino común para una diversidad de actividades recreativas.

En breve recibirán por este intermedio información sobre las fechas de presentación de resúmenes e inscripciones y estará disponible la página Web con más información sobre el Encuentro, detalles de costos, alojamiento y otros datos útiles.

Serán todos bienvenidos!

Dear friends,

It's a joy to announce that the IV ELEN will take place in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 22nd to 26th april 2012.

It has been almost two years since our last meeting in Chetumal, Mexico, at the Encuentro de Lepidoptera Neotropicales III. The time has come to meet again and share the knowledge, experiences and enjoy what passionates us the most: the butterflies and moths of the Neotropical region.

This event, has the sponsorship of the Faculty of Sciences (Universidad de la República) and the National Museum of Natural History, and will be held at the Convention Centre "Torre de los Profesionales" (http://www.torre.com.uy <http://www.torre.com.uy/> ) in downtown Montevideo.

For the first time, ELEN will take place in a city of the temperate region, in the Pampa biome, so familiar to some of us and so unusual to others. This will be an excellent opportunity for those who want to visit it and still don't know it, and a great excuse for those who have been here before and would like to come back. It will also be a good chance to strenghthen the study of these insects in the southern region.

Montevideo is the capital of the country and hosts almost half the total population, it has a great cultural activity, big shopping malls, and the famous almost-20 km-long shore, a common place for a great diversity of recreational activities.

Soon, you will receive information about deadlines for abstract submissions and registration. The official site of the meeting will be online in the next few days, where you would find information regarding fees, accomodation and other useful data.
